Schubert – Ave Maria

Schubert –  Ave Maria is one of the most gorgeous songs ever written suitable for the holiday season. In its original form it has two melody lines and three sung verses of lyrics to provide continuing interest.    In this flute choir arrangement there are textural changes in the instrumentation each verse, to maintain that interest in the absence of words. Each of the 5 parts receives some melody and harmony. It  was transposed from key of Ab to C. Parts include, piccolo, two C-flutes, alto flute, and bass flute. Note that the one-player piccolo part initially is a flute part, and transitions to piccolo after a short multi- measure rest to allow instrument change.

It is dedicated to the memory of Catherine Corriere, a staunch Catholic, joyfully engaged in life and family for almost 98 years.
